Welcome to North Park/South Park

North Park/South Park

Close to both Downtown San Diego and the iconic Balboa Park, the neighborhoods of North Park and South Park are the cultural art center of San Diego County. Live music, street fairs, poetry readings, art exhibits, and community theater shows are part of the tapestry of life in these neighborhoods. Filled with blocks of local restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, breweries, and event spaces, residents are never at a loss for things to do. Community-focused and close-knit, it isn’t unusual to run into friends on the way home from the gym or while shopping at the North Park Farmer’s Market on Thursday evenings.

Of the two neighborhoods, life in North Park moves at a faster pace. With a more extensive bar and restaurant scene, North Park is a popular weekend hangout destination for people from all over the county though it never feels crowded. Notable restaurants in the area include Fortunate Son, a Chinese Restaurant from Consortium Holdings (the same visionary team behind Born & Raised), and Et Voilà, a darling French Bistro with a great happy hour menu. If drinks are your thing, be sure to check out the creative cocktails at Polite Provisions or enjoy a whiskey at Seven Grand. Residents of both neighborhoods enjoy the accessibility of local parks and canyon hiking trails. Morley Park, situated at the northeast end of Balboa Park, is particularly popular with locals. North Park and South Park are also known for being dog-friendly with plenty of businesses allowing dogs inside or on their patios. For the dog who needs room to run, the off-leash area at Grape Street is located about halfway between the two neighborhoods. Balboa Park also offers acres of meandering pathways and trails to enjoy with your favorite four-legged friend.

Dreaming of buying your first home in North Park? Downsizing and looking to retire in South Park? From classic Craftsman-style homes, to contemporary new builds, to Spanish-style bungalows, there’s a lot to love above the varied architecture in this area! Many homes are historic, with their original features lovingly preserved for a new owner to enjoy. As an added bonus, many homes in North Park and South Park have an ADU or separate guest suite on the property that can be rented out for additional income. If a low-maintenance lifestyle is more your speed, you can also find updated condos and townhomes available in these neighborhoods as well. Looking to invest in San Diego real estate?
